St. George Elementary School

Ridgeway, Ontario

Opened in March 2002, this new build elementary school in Ridgeway has established a strong new presence for the Niagara Catholic District School Board in Fort Erie. Delivered below budget, this project none the less incorporates a two storey lobby filled with natural light through a fully encompassing curtain wall, as well as a full-size daycare component. Nestled within a protected Carolinian forest, it also demonstrates a renewed sensitivity to building responsibly within the environment. These natural elements are also reflected in the choice of building components, such as exposed parallam wood beams and the natural colours used for the building's finishes.
