Operating as an annex to the Prince of Wales Hotel, The Royal Cambridge is Vintage Hotels newest Reception/Conference facility. The former 20,000 square foot Community Centre was used by residents of the town for years prior to being revitalized in 2013. The Town of Nigara-on-the-Lake sold the abandoned building to Vintage Hotels are relocating the Community Centre to a new site in town.
An example of adaptive re-use, this project maintained and updated the building to fit the surrounding neighbourhood. The street facade had minimal updates to maintain the low profile of the quaint residential neighbourhood. While the rear facade received a small infill addition, providing adequate exiting from the facility and more elaborate detail and trim work to tie into the adjacent Prince of Wales Hotel.
