Niagara Falls, Ontario
Completed in 2008 on Forestview Boulevard in Niagara Falls, this new 26,700 square feet two storey elementary school was constructed to serve the needs of the growing community on the south/west end of the city. The school includes 14 regular classrooms, 2 special needs classrooms, 2 kindergarten classrooms, and a daycare with exterior play area, computer lab, library, general purpose room, offices and staff rooms. The site includes parking for 100 vehicles, and a soccer field along Kalar Road. The school was designed as a 2 storey plan for economies of scale, which also allowed the junior instructional spaces to be contained on the lower floor and the senior instructional spaces on the upper floor. The foyer of the school includes a feature stone wall that allows the school to display student work and awards. The success of the school's layout, quality-durable material selection, maintenance costs and closeness of actual cost to the tender cost all added up to make this project an excellent flagship school.
