Happy Holidays - 2024 Year in Review
December 16, 2024
We extend our gratitude and warmest wishes to you. As the holiday season approaches, we are taking this opportunity to express our thanks and share some of our highlights from the past year:
- Governor’s General’s Medal in Architecture: along with MJMA we were deeply honoured to be among such distinguished architectural teams to be one of the recipients of the 2024 Governor General’s Medals in Architecture in Canada for the Neil Campbell Rowing Centre. The Awards Ceremony will take place in February 2025 in Ottawa.
- Completing the New Wainfleet and West Lincoln Fire Stations: both projects providing services to the community. The new Wainfleet Central Fire Station opened in August and came in $250,000 under the $6.3M budget. The new West Lincoln Fire Station No. 2 in Caistor Centre opened in July and was about $150,000 under budget.
- Occupancy for South Port Condos in Port Colborne: This 9-storey project was wrapped up successfully. The building was oriented to front and frame West Street and Adelaide Street, complete with commercial units on the ground floor. Thanks to Rankin Construction it will enhance the architectural landscape and contribute to the ongoing growth and revitalization of the area.
- New Thorold Museum and Cultural Centre: We teamed up with Reich and Petch in Toronto, working on the visioning and programming, we revealed a concept design to the City of Thorold recently. The project aims to transform the old fire station on Towpath Street into a museum and cultural hub. We look forward to continuing this relationship as we work towards design options in 2025.
- The New Copacabana and La Favella: The new Copacabana in Niagara Falls was recognized with an honourable mention for the 2023 NanaWall Awards. The project used NanaWall folding glass walls on the lower level as well as the rooftop La Favella bar. La Favella is Niagara’s newest heated rooftop patio on the second floor of Copacabana which includes a fully retractable roof.
- Winning Multiple Awards for the Neil Campbell Rowing Centre including Two OAA Awards: The 2024 Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Conference in Niagara Falls was a great time for us. We were thrilled to receive two Awards for Excellence for the Neil Campbell Rowing Centre in St. Catharines. Along with MJMA, the project won a prestigious Design Excellence Award and the Michael V. Wanda Plachta Award, recognizing outstanding architectural projects in Ontario valued at $8M or less. Emilio Raimondo also spoke during a Conference Session with Enbridge, regarding their Savings by Design program. The Neil Campbell Rowing Centre has since received other awards including the Architizer A+ Awards for Gyms and Recreation Centres, the Azure Magazine AZ Awards for Commercial and Institutional Projects Under 1000 SQM and the AIA International Design Award, to name a few.
We look forward to strengthening our connections and fostering collaborations in 2025. Wishing you a New Year Filled with love, hope, and joy.
